If you are a little familiar with the Chinese market – you probably know that the Chinese company Chuwi makes one of the best tablets in terms of price-quality ratio. Exquisite large-screen tablets from Chuwi have long conquered China, but with Chuwi SurBook 2 in 1 the company decided to enter the world market. In their new gadget, developers have tried to maintain a balance of quality, style, performance and affordable price.
Chuwi Surbook: Design
Chuwi Surbook is made in an all-metal case with a nice finish. The edging on the sides is significantly different from the back cover. All major ports are located on the right side of the tablet, including Type-C USB between the two 3.0 Type-A ports and the 3.5-mm headphone jack. The power and volume buttons are located on top of the tablet. The adjustable footrest on the back cover moves 125 degrees. The step is strong enough to withstand the claimed 20,000 opening-closing events.
The keyboard is quite responsive and pleasant in operation. The keys are highlighted (including the backlight FN + DEL), so you will not have problems with working at night. Little concern about the longevity is caused only by the corduroy decoration of the space around the keys. But according to rumors, the keyboard is ordered from the same supplier as for the much more famous hybrid Microsoft Surface Pro 2017.
Chuwi Surbook: Display
The 12.3-inch 2K display on the Surbook looks very good, which is not surprising because it uses a similar matrix with the Surface Pro. The touchscreen is pretty good, and the stylus does not cause any complaints (it will take only a while to get used to the peculiarities of his work). The stylus supports 1024 pressure points, so it’s ideal for graphics applications like Photoshop and Fresh Paint.
The tablet is ideal for entertainment due to the high brightness of the display and contrast. Many are confident that the display of the Chuwi Surbook in no way inferior to the iPad. The aspect ratio of the 3: 2 tablet makes the editing process as convenient as possible.
Chuwi Surbook: Performance
Chuwi SurBook is not a high-performance 2-in-1 tablet. As you know, Chinese manufacturers have blurred the boundaries between the flagship and budget smartphones. Now you can buy a very powerful smartphone for only a couple of hundred dollars. The same goes the tablet market.
The main drawbacks of Chuwi SurBook in terms of performance are the processor and the type of memory. Unfortunately, the tablet uses eMMC memory, which shows rather modest figures in the speeds of reading and writing.
As for the processor, the tablet works on the latest generation of “Apollo Lake” Celeron N3450. Of course, this is not Core or even Core m3, but it’s still a huge step forward from the previously used Cherry and Bay Trail Atoms. Many experts disapprove of the Celeron processor, but almost every new laptop on Windows 10 S is equipped with this processor (with the exception of Surface Laptop).
On the other hand, Chuwi SurBook runs on a full-fledged Windows 10 operating system, not a simplified Windows 10 S.
Chuwi Surbook: Connections
Chinese tablet Chuwi SurBook has several advantages over Surface Pro, for example, available connections. Microsoft equipped its new tablet with only one USB Type-C port, while the device from Chuwi offers as many as three: USB Type-C and two USB 3.0 ports. This is quite convenient, given that the USB Type-C is used to charge a battery with a capacity of 10,000 mAh.
Moreover, unlike Surface Pro, the keyboard and stylus of Chuwi SurBook are included in the final cost.
Chuwi Surbook: Price
Buy Chuwi SurBook tablet can be on Gearbest for $ 389.99 per model 6GB RAM + 64GB ROM eMMC and $ 428.99 for 6GB RAM + 128GB storage.
