As agreed, Huawei unveiled not one, but two terminals for its alternative brand Honor. The two mobiles are called Honor V9 Play and Honor 6 Play. If the first seems to be a new model, the second is the Huawei Y6 (2017).
In the teaser that was presented on Chinese social networks, we could see the name of the smartphone: Honor V9 Play. The date that was indicated was that of yesterday. Since Huawei generally respects its commitments regarding the date and presentation of mobiles, there was indeed a presentation yesterday. That of Honor V9 Play … and that of Honor 6 Play. Little surprise, for the fans of the brand who were able to discover two phones, although, let’s face it, the Honor 6 Play is not really a new phone.
Honor V9 Play
Let’s start with Honor V9 Play. It is a very light version of Honor V9. Understand that not only is it smaller, but it is also less powerful and is not equipped with a dual photo sensor. In short, it is a very different smartphone, although a similarity is palpable in design: the shell is aluminum, the separations for the antennas are straight. The fingerprint reader is dorsal. On the other hand, the main photo sensor is on the center line of the shell and no longer stuck in a corner. Proximity is therefore not total.
The Honor V9 Play is equipped with a 5.2-inch 720p display, a MediaTek MT6750 chipset (the lightest of MediaTek’s octa-core), 3 or 4 GB of RAM, 32GB storage with up to 128GB additional expansion, 3000 mAh battery, 13 megapixel photo sensor with flash and f/2.2 lens, 8 megapixel webcam, fingerprint reader, LTE category 4 connection, Android 7.0 Nougat with EMUI 5.1. Four colors: gold, black, red and blue. It measures 7.65 mm thick. It weighs 145 grams. The price is 999 yuan (130 euros) in 3GB version and 1199 yuan (155 euros) in 4GB version.
Honor 6 Play
Let’s go to Honor 6 Play. This is a Y6 (2017) rebranded without modification on the data sheet or the design. As a reminder, the smartphone was initially unveiled by Huawei last May. The Y6 (2017), marketed at the same time as the Y6 Pro (2017), is already present on the French stalls. It is therefore not necessary to wait for its launch under the Honor brand. The Y6 (2017) is equipped with a 720p 5-inch display, a MediaTek MT6737T quad-core chipset, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB storage, a 3020 mAh battery, 8-megapixel photo sensor, a 5-megapixel webcam and Android 6.0 Marshmallow with EMUI 4.1. In China, it will not exceed 100 euros (600 yuan).
