Moto Z3 Play first review: phone with side-mounted fingerprint reader

It is expected that Motorola announces the first smartphone in 2018 – Moto G6/G6 Plus/G6 Play. Then, probably, there will be a turn of the Z-series, which includes at least two models, one of which is the Moto Z3 Play.

For the first three months of this year, almost all smartphone manufacturers presented their novelties. The Lenovo Group also released several phones, but under the Lenovo brand, not Moto. According to rumors, in 2018 presentations of smartphones should be held in three lines at once: Moto Z, Moto E and Moto G. A few hours ago, in one of the popular Slashleaks website, a smartphone case for Moto Z3 Play appeared on sale, thanks to which you can see the appearance of the main feature of the coming novelties.

In addition, all smartphones must be FCC certified before they can be sold in the United States. The next Motorola Moto Z3 Play is no exception, and its certification gives us some specifications about the device.

Moto Z3 Play: Design

Almost the entire front surface of the novelty is a 6.1-inch Full HD+ screen with an aspect ratio of 18: 9. The phone’s overall dimensions are 156.23 mm in length and 76.7 mm in width. There is a possibility that with Moto Z3 Play it will be possible to use special modules, released together with the Z2 Play model – Moto GamePad, SoundBoost, and TurboPower Pack. Over the screen are located light and proximity sensors,

Behind Moto Z3 Play is not much different from its predecessor. At the bottom there are connectors for connecting modules, on top there is a round platform for the camera, projecting above the plane of the rear panel. However, when using modules or overlays, this is invisible. The main camera will receive two sensors, with 12 and 8-megapixel sensors.

At the bottom of the cover you will notice only the space for the USB-Type-C, and along the top edge – the opening for the microphone.

One of the key differences in design compared to the predecessor is the lack of a physical Home key on the front panel due to the full-screen design. In this regard, the fingerprint scanner moved to the right side face. This, in turn, led to the power button being placed to the left. In addition, the smartphone will not have a 3.5-millimeter connector.
